Counselling for children and youth addresses their individual needs through developmentally appropriate approaches. Developing a safe relationship is integral to this process. Play therapy is the primary modality used in Gillian’s work with young children, while weaving in additional skills, approaches, and interventions based on the client’s needs. Gillian’s work with youth is grounded in empowerment, advocacy, and collaboration. Presenting issues may include:

  • Anxiety/Panic
  • Anger
  • Abuse (physical, emotional & sexual)
  • Depression
  • Attachment
  • Bullying
  • Grief & Loss
  • Parent-child Conflict
  • Divorce/Separation
  • Self-harm
  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Emotion Regulation
  • Trauma

Parents are encouraged to participate in parent support while their child engages in counselling.
